Seed Card mini project  Mel Parnell Twilight scrapper  We are heading down the road towards Christmas in the midst of spring and here I am listening to the rain on a cold night. Covid has made me get closer to nature so I designed a mini project that will encourage us to be a little more sustainable.   I found a card and placed a seed envelope in the middle third and folded around it. I then used art alchemy teal/opal acrylic paint to smear the cover then I splattered gold acrylic and sprayed red dylusions spray over a stencil.  I used a range of acrylic stamp mark makers to stamp archival ink onto the cover of the seed wallet . I used a stencil and acrylic teal/opal Art alchemy to colour a brown paper pocket on the inside of the wallet. I created tags from water colour crayons mixed with water. Then covered them with stamps and spray. It’s now time to line the inside of the wallet with tags that could be made into pot labels and how to care for your plant sugg...

3 Quarter Designs- Grunge Wallet and Junk Journal

Image
3 Quarter Design -  Fairground Fun Junk Journal and Wallet DT Member 'Scrap of your Life' by Melanie Parnell  'The Twilight Scrapper' The idea came to me at dinner time because it seems to me I'm always thinking about the next meal to feed four children and a man child. Its our favourite stir-fry lime coconut curry. I saved the wallet and applied a thick gesso coat to both sides to hide the writing. Once dry I applied aqua/teal and purple acrylic paint and blended them with a sponge roller. This created a textured effect. I then used the cut out die negatives and stencilled black archival ink over top of the sponged surface. I started to cut some dies ( these are very old and have come out of my stash)  out and create some tags for my junk journal just like I created the wallet cover. I cut as many pieces from 3Quarter Design _ Fairground Fun 12 x 12 paper cut apart paper I could like tickets, carousel, flowers, etc. On the inside of the wallet I glued paper pie...

Never to old to be Silly '3 Quarter Designs' Fairground Fun Mini Collection Using ' Scrap of your Life ' scrapbooking supplies I have come up with my first project for October 2020. In this layout I was lucky enough to be able to create really fun page that draws out all the colours that this collection is made up of. The first thing I did was to fussy cut all the elements from the 2 cut out sheets. I cut the Ferris wheel and 'H' from the 12 x 12 in this kit. I used Kaisercraft eggshell acrylic paint to paint the chipboard words that come in the kit. I used the Nuvo Shimmer powders in ' Cherry bomb , Violet brocade , Catherine wheel '. I puffed these over the painted letters and spritzed them with water all the colours mixed into each other I created the background with 4 distress crayons spritzed and sponged onto the page. I added more colours by using more crayons on the page. I added Nuvo Shimmer powder and water to some plastic and pushed this into...

‘Little Moments’ Happiness CVS

Image
Little Moments  ‘ Happiness by Cocoa Vanilla Studio’ The inspiration behind this layout was the bright water colour pink/orange tones of the Happiness ( Botanical Bliss Paper CV-HA001  collection ( die cuts , paper) I used Vicki Boutin watercolour markers water Nuvo colour brushes to create my own flowers by hand painting on water colour paper and fussy cutting.  The background was created on salmon card stock with Nuvo Atlantis burst and nuvo cherry bomb . The dust was sprayed with water and allowed to create drips down the paper.  The speckles created were like lots of hundreds and thousands on the page. The photos was layered up with pink water colour card. That was hand painted to blend in with the page.  I used the lid of the mister to create circles by dropping the lid in pink watercolour. I stamped this over the layout. I lightly water coloured the title from CVS Daydream collection. The little scatters that cover the LO were red hearts and blue s...

Thankyou ‘ Junk Journal’

Gratitude Journal  - Twilight scrapper I decided during these covid times I would create a booklet to write down all the sayings that allow me to be thankful. When times are tough and we feel a little overwhelmed it may just mean we need to write down these thoughts in our little journal. It keeps us centred and reminds us of the good that we do have. I used the rose coloured ink to create a chevron pattern across the cover of the journal  sky mini collection 6x6 paper.. The papers I used was the 49 market collage stack to fill in pages of the journal  .I used super tacky tape to hold the spine together and started to make 3 signatures. You can sew them or tape them all depending on your fold.  The Seaside Shipwreck 6x8 paper was either folded in 1/2 or thirds to create pockets and extra folds in the 3 signatures.  I started to create the front cover by using a 49 market stitched frames then I started to layer up a stamped wooden dream catcher with be...
