My Memory Journal

My Memory Journal- tribute to my dad
When life leaves you will a hole missing we try really hard to gather as many memories as we can to take with us into the future.

So when a friend lost her dad recently I decided I would create a spiral notebook that could hold precious memories about a previous life lived. Questions that drive me here were , What is a special time a remember with dad?, What is a life lesson he taught me, what do I live about my dad ????.......and the list goes on.

I used 49Market - Sky Mini-6x6 collection. I used Prima flowers which I coloured with watered down Opal magic by art alchemy. The beautiful shimmer in these acrylic paints are pretty amazing in real life.
I used the ‘addition’ stencil by Dusty Attic with a stencil brush and distress Ink ‘iced spruce’ I moved the stencil around the book  cover. I used the opal magic ‘teal pink and yellow pink’ with an eye dropper I made puddles on the cover then heated them until they bubbled. This created a 3-D texture. I also squashed some to create some ink blobs. I attached two square frames to make a 3-d frame which would hold a title and embellishments.

I started the gather and recolour a whole range of embellishments like, wooden words, sequins, seed beads, pins, resin flowers, enamels, mini flowers , paper clips, metal keys and twine.

I tied twine to the spiral book binder which I attached metal keys to and a flower. I then started to position all embellishments so there was a balance for the eye on the cover.

Happy crafting to all this memory keepers out there. I so enjoyed this little gift and it’s not the cover that I makes but all the previous words written inside.

All my love Mel xxx
